Event description:

Grosvenor, in collaboration with the Australian Centre for Evaluation, OPEN impact practitioners network, the Paul Ramsay Foundation and the Assessment and Evaluation Research Centre, are launching a piece of exploratory research to understand the severity and frequency of everyday ethics issues in the Australian evaluation community.

This session describes what we mean by the term ‘everyday ethics’ we’re coining for this concept, why we think it is important and a draft framework for categorising the severity of everyday ethics challenges. The session will also ask for your contribution to this unique exploratory research, with the results to be shared with Australian Evaluation Society members in late 2025.

Presenter details:

Kristy Hornby has over a decade of evaluation experience with Grosvenor, with expertise spanning the Victorian state government, federal government, local government and not-for-profit sectors. She has experience across the evaluation service delivery continuum, from program design and MEL Framework development through to conducting monitoring and evaluation activities and building client evaluation capability, with particular expertise in the social services, primary health and environment domains.

Eleanor Williams is a public policy, research and evaluation professional with 20 years' experience working with the public sector. She is the Managing Director of the Australian Centre for Evaluation and established the Australian Public Sector Evaluation Network in 2019. Eleanor is currently undertaking PhD research on evidence use in fast-paced policy contexts with supervisors at the University off Queensland and University College London and has a particular interest in rapid evaluation methods.
