Event Description: 

Ever since participating in the first International Evaluation Conference (1995) held jointly by the American Evaluation Association (AEA) and the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES), the Australian Evaluation Society (AES) has been engaged in networking and contributing to the development of other evaluation professional associations.

This seminar will explore the journey of the evaluation communities of Africa, especially Mozambique, in the formation of their professional evaluation association (Associação Moçambicana de Monitoria e Avaliação, AMMA) and the role of international evaluation associations including the AES, CES, African Evaluation Association (AfrEA) and the Brazilian M&E Network (RBMA). We will hear about how their plans survived the turmoils of COVID-19 to culminate in the celebration of their first national evaluation conference (3rd & 4th May 2923) sponsored by UNICEF.

Presenter Details: 

Tomás Doce has worked in the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) field since 2010, as a M&E Officer at CARE. During this role, he assisted with the EPTS at all health institutions targeted by the project and ensured the updating of information for clients using appropriate software. Tomás also planned and conducted capacity building programs for staff in various themes. In 2012, he moved to World Vision as an Accountability, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer. In this role, he led the design, coordination, and implementation of the project PMP and facilitated donor M&E systems as per USDA Policies. In 2015, he was promoted to Monitoring and Evaluation Manager at World Vision. During this role, he identified M&E needs as per international standards and good practices, identified effective solutions to common problems, and produced timely and quality reports. In 2016, he moved to develop M&E in the Mining Sector Project of 8 Southern Africa countries. During this role, he secured a quality data collection in 8 countries, conducted field visits for quality assurance, and coordinated M&E activities. Since 2018, he been a Senior Evaluation Officer providing leadership for the design, management, and implementation of performance and impact evaluations, analyses, population-based surveys, and assessments. Since 2021, he has been the Monitoring and Evaluation Lead.

This is a free event organised & hosted by the South Australian Regional Network of the AES. Our seminar series provides an opportunity for you to meet with AES members and others in the evaluation community and to share and learn from the experiences of fellow evaluators.
