In this session, Dr. Patton will explore the theme of resilience in evaluation—how evaluators can respond with agility in the face of systemic shocks, disruptions, and uncertainty. Drawing on global experiences across sectors and disciplines, he will share principles and practices for embedding resilience into the design and practice of evaluation.

Presenter details:

Dr. Michael Quinn Patton is one of the world’s foremost evaluation theorists and practitioners, renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to Utilization-Focused Evaluation, Developmental Evaluation, and Principles-Focused Evaluation. As the founder of Blue Marble Evaluation, Dr. Patton champions approaches that are responsive to global systems change and rooted in complexity thinking. A former president of the American Evaluation Association, Dr. Patton has received numerous accolades for his lifetime contributions, including the Alva and Gunnar Myrdal, Paul F. Lazarsfeld, Lester F. Ward, and Research on Evaluation Awards. For over four decades, he has shaped the field through thought leadership and global influence. His work has guided governments, non-profits, and international organizations in designing evaluations that are not only rigorous but adaptive and meaningful.

This is a free event organised & hosted by the New Zealand Regional Network of the AES. Our seminar series provides an opportunity for you to meet with AES members and others in the evaluation community and to share and learn from the experiences of fellow evaluators.
