Assistant Manager, Senior Evaluation Officer

Duties

The Evaluation Unit (in the Office of the Chief Economist) is offering a unique opportunity for an Assistant Manager and a Senior Policy Officer to join our team. We are one of the leading programme assessment units in the Australian Public Service, and are highly regarded for our innovative approaches to evaluation.

We are looking for people with excellent written and oral communication skills, experience in planning and conducting evaluations, and a broad understanding of the Australian Government’s role in industry policy. Tertiary qualifications in evaluation, economics, or social science are desirable.

Applicants for the Assistant Manager position will also have demonstrated skills in supervising team members, undertaking a leadership role, and working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results.

Your work will involve overseeing a small team to research existing programmes, analyse data and other types of evidence, develop reports, and provide recommendations to enhance the programme's outcomes. You will also provide advice about lessons learnt from your evaluations, to be used in new programme and policy design. You will provide advice on evaluation activities across the department in line with the principles outlined in the department's Evaluation Strategy, including strategic evaluation capability building projects.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.

These positions require a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

Notes

This recruitment process is being used to fill an ongoing APS Level 6 and Executive Level 1 vacancy. A merit pool may be established to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing APS Level 6 and Executive Level 1vacancies, should they become available within 12 months from the date advertised.

Salary Range: $83,660 - $110,014
