The Opportunity
Abt is now seeking a highly experienced management consultant with strong capabilities in evaluation to work and provide leadership in our domestic consulting practice and as required provide advice to our international teams.
The Senior Consultant will be responsible for:

  • Leading pre-capture, capture, business development and tender responses in collaboration with the Domestic Consulting Team and the Business Development Team
  • Leading, managing and contributing to a range of domestic consulting projects and domestic programs through the full project cycle. These could include but are not limited to Evaluations, Monitoring, Research, Quantitative Analysis, Needs Assessments, Service Mapping and Strategies and Workforce reviews
  • Contributing to business development, and program management and delivery of international programs as required

Key Duties

  • Lead and/or contribute to the development of high-quality tender responses to domestic tender opportunities
  • Look for opportunities to develop the domestic business through leveraging off of existing projects and through pro-actively promoting Abt’s capabilities to potential clients
  • Lead and/or contribute to a range of projects concurrently, including but not limited to; Evaluations, Monitoring, Research, Co-designs, Quantitative Analysis, Needs Assessments, Service Mapping and Strategies and Workforce reviews and planning
  • Lead and/or contribute to the delivery of consulting projects across the complete project life cycle; plan, design, implement and report
  • Manage projects in accordance with the contract ensuring quality, timeliness and efficiency
  • As appropriate, oversee program financial forecasting, monitoring, reporting, invoicing and value for money principles against the contract
  • Implement robust and high quality project management practices in accordance with Abt’s project management methodology (PMBOK) and software (One2Team)
  • Build the capability of other staff in relation to planning, service design, monitoring, evaluation and research activities

Key Requirements

  • At least 7 years’ experience in a consultancy role including project management across the entire project life cycle
  • Previous experience in responding to public tenders through writing high quality proposals
  • Previous experience in a senior role in a private consulting practice
  • Excellent understanding of evaluation theory, principles and practice
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in qualitative methodologies, analysis, interpretation and reporting
  • Previous experience and basic competency in quantitative methodologies, analysis, interpretation and reporting
  • Excellent understanding of Australian health care sector or other relevant human services sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative methodologies and/or solutions in the design and conduct of projects
  • Excellent client and stakeholder management skills
