Grants for emerging Indigenous evaluatorsApplications close on Monday 13th June With the support of sponsoring organisations, and donations from conference delegates, we are offering a limited number of Conference Support Grants to assist emerging Indigenous evaluators from the Australasian region1 to attend this year’s conference and workshops in Adelaide, Australia. The grants cover conference attendance and workshop registration fees. Additional support may also be available to cover travel and accommodation expenses. The aim of the grants is to increase the number of Indigenous evaluators in the Australasian area and to strengthen their evaluation capacities. The theme of this year’s conference is Weaving evaluation into the whole... We encourage you to consider what this theme means for your unique context. The conference and workshops are being held in Adelaide from 28 August to 1 September. Delegates can expect an inspiring learning experience from a program of renowned speakers, as well as networking opportunities and practical skills development at high quality pre-conference workshops. We are connected to everything else and the proof of that is being alive. Being alive connects you to every other living thing that's around you. Your spirit, your psychic, your physical, your mental... you're all connected with other living forms. You're never lost and you're never ever alone. You're one with everything else that there is there. The oneness. The completeness of the oneness. The above quote serves to remind us that as evaluators the work that we do is significant not only for those who commission our work, but more importantly for the communities, the people, who are affected by our findings, and the decisions that transpire, based on these findings. Full details of the conference are at https://conference2022.aes.asn.au/ Applications close 13 June 2022 Conference places will be offered to Indigenous evaluators with some experience in evaluation who:
Benefits to grant recipients include professional development, increased knowledge, understanding and capacities in evaluation, stronger professional networks, and increased encouragement and confidence. ... I have gained a greater understanding of what is going on in world of evaluation. I liked hearing about the different perspectives on developing evaluation as a discipline. Coming away with practical tools I can use but also being able to offer some ideas and thoughts with a level of confidence about what is possible in the way we carry out evaluation here in the Cook Islands and the way we can develop evaluation as a means to determining what works, why and what has been achieved. ... Making connections with a range of people that I have been able to subsequently share resources with since the conference, has also been a benefit. In 2022 several grants will be reserved for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders who meet the Support Grants criteria.
